To make up for the last post, be prepared for a downpour of photographs. For our last full day on the island, we set out to hike out to the western tip, following some of the prettiest coastline I have ever seen. It was blazing hot, but the scenery was completely worth it.
This is the side of Oahu that is supposed to be more desert-like and less lush, green, and beautiful. Less green? Yes. Less beautiful? Not even going to answer that.
This is how we feel about being in the same place. Bonus points for being a breathtaking place.
That moment when you REALLY wish you were a better photographer because you’re faced with a beauty that can barely be captured with a lens.
Thomas was not in doubt. (……….Please tell me I’m not the only one laughing. I am? Ok, read the sign again.)
Maybe it’s just me, but seeing water like that stirs my soul. That’s what happens when you grow up on the coast…the ocean is always a part of you.
Our hike ended at a wild bird sanctuary – the home of large, white albatross-like guys that nest in the ground.
Just in case you didn’t believe me when I said it was REALLY hot. I don’t know how Abby and David are playing it so cool in their picture.
Our second wildlife sighting of the day – seals!! And they blow bubbles 🙂
What does a morning like that make you? Hot and hungry. On the way home, we took a quick stop at the beach to cool off then headed (back) to My Cafe to introduce Abby & David to our foodtastic find.
Can’t enjoy that kind of deliciousness too many times!
The rest of our day was spent unwinding at the house. I was introduced to the incredible world of essential oils and Abby & David were introduced to one of our absolutely favorite TV shows – Murdoch Mysteries!
The next day we hung out, did some shopping (where has Ross discount store been all my life??), hit up the hot tub one last time, and packed our bags. And that was it. The week was over, just like that. Well, I guess you can’t plan your next trip until you’ve come home, though, right? Time to start throwing pennies in the change jar again…
Why do vacations always seem too short? Any other Murdoch fans out there?
