July? August? Where did you go?
Looking on my computer the other day I realized that I hadn’t even used my SLR camera AT ALL in August. Part of me wants to be frustrated with this – that I didn’t get things done that were on my priority list (like blogging, photography or house projects). Looking back on my calendar for the last part of the summer has helped me be grateful, though, for what God’s priorities were for these past weeks. Often plans were last minute, urgent needs came up or people were available to fellowship with. And so life just happens.
I often struggle with not running after the god of tangible productivity. I want to see visible signs that I am doing something with my life. Of course, it is great when other people see those signs as well, right? However, ministry for God often does not have tangible results because He is a supernatural God, working in a realm that is above and outside of our own.
The past two months have been filled with a lot of travel and hospitality, both of which I enjoy. As most people gear up in September for a busier season of life, I am actually looking forward to slowing down a little bit. Regrouping and reevaluating. Even then, though, I want to continue to view life through God’s lens and learn to redefine “productivity”.
